I believe its in to increase (smaller gap - more pressure) and out to decrease.

Just out of curiosity, why would you wanna do that though. Obviously to keep air out of the gun, but that would mean having to adjust it everytime :(

I don't think backing it out will turn it off, will just reduce the pressure, wouldn't recommend taking out the circlip and grub screw as they hold what few internals there are in there.

other than that, the reg's are set at the right pressure when being tested, so personally i'd say leave it, if your looking for a way to just turn the air off, get an inline switch or something.:D
