Best way to put tight orings on

Right a o-ring on the nipple of my air tank went at the weekend and I have a o-ring(poly i think, it is cloudy clear colour) to replace it but I just can't get it on it is just not stretching enough to get it on. So was wondering if there are any tricks of the trade that people use to get tight o-rings on?

What are you putting it on...teh pin section...at teh bottom? Shouldnt be that hard...?

I guess it looks a bit like a very thick pin, I think it is mostly that I could only find a polyurethene one so it has virtually no flex in it at all.

You tried popping it in some boiling water for a few mins?

Might have to get some rubber ones off you as for about the 10 time in the last hour the o-ring has gone flying across the room and I am getting fed up of trying to find something so small.

How much then skeet?

No have not tryed the boiling water thing, that is exactly the sort of tip I wanted cheers, hoepfully won't scold myself will soon see though.

It must be something lik 4mm across this pin...with, liek a scallop out of teh bottom?

Right that didn't work though it did flex a little more might trying boiling it in the microwave...hmmmm

Yes it is about 4mm across looks like a flathead head screw at the top with a o-ring gap right underneath it.

Would a rubber o-ring be much easier?

Yeah it would or a slightly larger one....or a new fill nipple...like CP

If you have some pointy scissors...try opening teh o-ring up with teh scissors or pliers maybe...
