Hi everybody I am new to paintball but really want to get into it. I'm mainly playing woodsbal and scenario. mY friends have just bought a tippmann a5 and a tippman x7 phenom. I was basically looking for a marker that could match or if possible out perform them.

I have browsed a lot and was considering a Bt4 erc, but I have realised this is basically an a5 that's already modded and cheaper. I would like a gun with the ability a double trigger, the ability to go full auto (I am not bothered if the board needs modding for this but preferably the marker price + board will equal no more than 230) And obviously I don't want loads of chops.

I don't know if I'm asking for too much it's just really hard to find info on modding spiders and Electra etc so I wasn't sure what they were capable of.

Any advice we'd be much appreciated thanks

Hello and welcome to p8ntballer.

When you say you are going to play woodsball and scenario, it that going to be at you local site or at events?

You want a gun that can match or outperform them, your best bet would be buy the same and learn how to play paintball and enjoy it to start. To outperform them, I would say comes with playing the game, learning new skills and practice shooting. You could spend all your money in the world on the best kit, but you still couldn't hit a barn door or you empty a hopper just to get one player out.

With full auto, most sites wont let you use it, if you/the walk-on are mixed in with paying customers/rentals (punters) most sites will have a cap limit like 10bps, 12bps, semi only no ramping to stop you going mad. These rules may still apply when walk-ons ar playing each other.

The question is would you like to buy new or second hand. If new depending on where you live there may be a shop near by that you can go in have a look and feel of the guns. Some of the shops are site sponsors and have their links at the top or side of the forum pages.
If second hand you have P8ntballers for sale thread, have a look and see what is for sale. If you see something you like and its gets sold or it is out of your price range another will turn up. Most guns run on air now, but there are still a few sites that run of CO2 just check before you buy what your regular site runs on.

Have you tried you friends guns to see how they feel and if you like them and is somthing you would like.

This is LIPS paintball site that have a few different tippmann x7 's

You are more focused on a gun at the moment, The 1st thing I would be looking at is a mask, find one that you like fits well as you could be wearing it most of the day. (if you have got one aready I am sorry).

Regards

Ant

I'd recommend doing everything Automag said, but you can get some really good deals on second hand stuff on the for sale section of these forums. You can find markers that will out perform A5's for that price range.

I don't have time to write loads right now, but, in short, do your reserach. Paintball markers are varied beats, and looks are only skin deep. I would ignore spyders and modding etc - look at a decent tournament style marker froma reputable manufacturer (dye, proto, eclipse), which will destroy anything like a tipman.
