Hey , I have a Dark Angel LCD and I'm looking to buy an air system somewhere around the £200 mark.

Should I save up for an agel A.I.R ? Is it really worth it ?

What other full air systems are there which work well with angels ?

Or is it just worth having a preset ? or would I end up upgrading later anyway ?

Thanks,

James

I have had an Angel air for about 18 months, and i hate it. It constantly leaks, and i always have problems with it at Millennium Events. Could be down top the air suppliers at the MS but who knows, i never see that many people with anything other than an A.I.R having problems. I am going to go back to simplicity, and get a preset, as they are light, small and reliable. Who needs fancy electronic dials, and shot counters and such like, once the novelty wears off, the A.I.R is bulky, heavy and in my experience hugely unreliable.

Go for a preset dude, they do the job, thats all you need done.

KISS - Keep It Simple Stupid is an ancronym that works well, if there are less features, then there is less to potentially go wrong.

Well I agree with sjt19 in some aspects but not others. I have had a few Angel A.I.R.s and I have found them to be 100% reliable and never had a problem with them. I've never had leaks at all. :)

I have had the occasional leaks from Geddon's and Max Flo's but as with most air systems once you understand each systems characteristics they are often simple to trouble shoot and then keep working hassle free.

However, to agree with sjt19 I think they are very heavy. I also hate that you have to turn them on and off with an allen key every time. I switched to the Mac Dev 03 Conquest system from an A.I.R. for the following reasons...

1. A MacDev Conquest 03 reg is about half the weight of the A.I.R. reg.
2. Conquest03 has a built in on/off
3. Conquest03 has a built in air vent so that when you turn off the air system you don't have to dry fire excess air from your marker
4. Conquest03 has tourney locks for output pressure. Once it's set to your liking you lock it in place and never need adjust your output pressure again - EVER!
5. Conquest03 doesn't have any batteries that can run out.
6. Conquest03 has gauges that whilst uglier than the A.I.R. means I can always take a quick look at my pressures mid game to see how much air I have left
7. Conquest03 is a smaller profile
8. Conquest03 can have the gauges mounted either side of the reg meaning it's just as convenient for left and right handed folk
9. Conquest03 comes with it's own dovetail mounting system again creating a tighter set up (a more personal thing that though)
10. When initially setting up output pressure it doesn't require the use of an allen key

That is not to say anything beats the AIR performance wise as I think it is equal to almost every air system out there but they were my personal preferences as to why I switched away from it. Hope that helps.

When it comes down to it, they all do the same thing more or less the same way, some are fancy, some are basic. Go with your price range, if you want to spend £100 - £150 then get a preset, if you want something more elaborate and adjustable, get an Angel Air or a Max-Flo

There are a lot of Angel Airs about second hand for around £200 - £250, i've got one myself for sale at £250 fully seviced and with a 68 bottle.

Sam get a new rocket assembly fitted.:D :D

the 68 should be fine mate, its good for at least 1000 shots in almost any marker, i've got about 1300 from my angel LCD. but if you feel you need the extra, its up to you, its all personal preference with how the bottle length nd width suits your style of play!

I was never a fan of AIR's (although I do like the shape) from a technical/reliability point of view, as Sam said all the ones I've had/been on the same team as have had problems.

I too had a Conquest, however I found even that a bit too much "fuss" although to be fair it worked great, just more than I needed.

So I've gone with a preset too, the PMI ones with a LP spring set rock the shiznit, plus they get rid of everything around your wrist at the bottom of the grip for a tighter profile.

P.S. As I'm in NZ at the moment I can probably get conquest reg's pretty cheap, what do they go for in the UK? I'll see if it's worth setting something up.
