The Freak is dead. My favorite is the Pipe, the CP kit is also really good, and I've heard good things about the Empire, though I've never used one.

to be brutally honest - Barrel kits are a waste of your Ca$h money.

Get yourself a 0.692-695 bore barrel and shoot fools with the paint you can buy with the difference.

Hell - ask any Pro/NXL/EXL player (off the record) and they'll tell you the same story. Paint to Barrel match only gives you a bit more gas efficency not more accuracy;)

The pros play with barrels like that because they don't have time for the hassle of matching bores to paints and they get fewer breaks that way. More a convenience thing. As much paint as they shoot, it's worth it to them not to have to clean breaks on the field and not worry about matching box after box of paint and sacrifice a few balls per fill or a little better accuracy. When you're actually paying for your paint and air, it changes things, and a barrel kit may be a good thing for you.

The problem with the Freak (and anything else with an insert) is that paint can get into the space between. Oh, wait there is also the misaligned parts thing. And the multiple weaker components thing. All the barrels I have ever had shoot well and clean out well for a while, but eventually get teensy little scratches that seem to signal the end of shooting through breaks effectively. I would say go with reputation, first, and good deals you find, otherwise. I don't like to spend too much on stuff that wears out and has low resale value.
