Kinda depends on what marker you are shooting, where you intend on playing on the field, how long your arms are and how often you can be bothered to fill your tank. If you post this stuff up, i'm sure someone will be able to advise you :)

All things aside, the most popular size is probably a 1.1 litre fibre wrap system from the likes of crossfire or pure energy.

Edit:

Stakos are renowned for being the lightest air system on the market, however there have been instances of accidents involving air tanks, and some people argue that more often than not, stako bottles are involved. I would do a lot of reading around stakos before i decided to buy one.

When you are thinking of an air system to use there is a number of factors you should take note of:

If you are using a main brand gun the best advice would be to purchase a full pre assembled system something like a pure energy series. (because that also meets all current regulations - most others don't)
You will then have to decide what type of bottle you want to use metal or a fibre wrapped.
A metal one is just that, a steel cylinder that will hold 3000psi of pressure, it is commonly used at customer paintball sites and not at all popular at tournament level but you still see them.
A fibre wrapped bottle is typically a aluminium cylinder that is then wrapped in something akin to glass fibre so you end up with higher strength than the steel bottle but a lot less weight and you can fill those to 4500psi (a 3000psi fibre wrapped bottle is available but is uncommon)
You also have to decide what size bottle you want to use, you have the option of 0.8ltr 1.1ltr and 1.5ltr the 1.1 option far outsells the others put together.

I would recommend anyone to use a pre assembled 4500psi fibre wrapped bottle because the manufactures made a stupid mistake and used the same fill nipples on both systems and nothing is in place that will stop you putting the higher pressure into the lower pressure bottle
Stako do not make regulators only bottles (the regs are added by the seller) and theirs differ because instead of an Aluminium core in the bottle they use a plastic type of insert making them even lighter.
There is some issue with the Stako bottle from some quarters but I have yet to be convinced of any fault.

I would not recommend anyone to purchase any air system second hand.
If you go into any reputable paintball shop they will show you some different ones and tell you everything you want to know.

i was wondering if the are any tanks smaller the 45cl for 4500 and above. i remeber the evil scion release for what only seemed to be a month a 30cl almost spherical tank. that would have kicked ass.....but sold out faster than an albanian tyre snatcher!
