on an ion, what are the benifits of a lower dwell, and in most circumstances how low can u go. (no limbo jokes please)

cheers

Dwell: LED solid

Dwell is the amount of time that the solenoid remains open (measured in milliseconds, or ms for short), which translates to how long the bolt will stay forward. This determines the length of time that the marker's valve will release pressurized air to fire the paintball. Increases in dwell will generally increase your velocity as well, though there are working limits to this.
Dwell is adjusted in half-millisecond intervals, starting at 8 milliseconds. This means the lowest setting on the board is 8-ms, first highest setting up is 8.5-ms, then 9-ms, 9.5-ms, 10-ms, etc. The stock dwell setting is 52 blinks from the bottom (34-ms). We don't recommend you adjust the dwell unless you wish to spend time and air fine-tuning the marker to possible receive better performance. If you accidentally adjust your marker's electronics and now the gun doesn't fire, readjust the dwell to 52 and try again.
For information on recommended dwell settings, go back to the Ion electronics mainpage.

If you fit a QEV on your Ion...it means you can lower the dwell, to improve efficiency etc.
I always forget teh 8ms baseline, so when I say 16, i mean blips from bottom, which is a dwell of around 16, oddly enough...however....a man who knows more than I on such things, stated dwell should be at 25...now, this I believe, is to do with capping teh ROF at around 15.4 CPS when combined with a recharge rate set at 39.

Anyway...lowed dwell means a faster max raf of fire (if you board can do it) and better efficiency if set up well...it can make teh Ion a little harsher on paint tho.

I think Gaz is quoting me, but apols if not mate!

Lowered dwell won't make an Ion harsher on paint - the forward cyvle impacts at the same speed regardless of your dwell. It's faster with a QEv than a banjo (7ms rather than 25ms) but your dwell won't affect this).
