Beginner Marker Advice Needed

Firstly, what type of Ions are there and how much roughly would each be on the forums?

Secondly, what's the difference between an Ion, an Etek 1/2 and an Ego 05?

I'm a newbie that plays mainly woodsball but some sup air, I was just wondering what more you get for your money in terms of markers really?

I've got an etek 1 bit newer than ego 5 and lighter etek 2 about same ish as ego 5/6 ions are older and smart parts have gone bankrupt so i'd be looking at eteks at the mo and 09 slg seem good a mates got one with ul frame and it a good little marker

Does anyone know how do the eteks compare to the Ions?

I think I'm going to try and keep my costs down and have a decent beginner setup: Ion, Halo Hopper, JT Proflex goggles... and some air

Im not sure about the eteks etc, but what you've said above; Ion, Halo etc would be a good starter setup.

You could probs get an Ion for about £60, will most probably be the cheapest elec marker you can find.

Do you think it matters how old the Ion is? Assuming the seller says it is in good working order etc?

Also, should I be concerned as I read that Smart Parts have gone out of business?

I have an Ion, not sure how old it is... Seems pretty old and it works fine.

A good clean and lube would be advised on an older one though.

Dont worry that smart parts have gone out of business.
They never supported their products properly anyway.


Its just a case of getting the spare orings, maybe a spare set of eyes.
Thats another benefit the ion has over the etek. Spare parts are significantly cheaper for the ion.
