length usually dont make much of a difference, if u take a cheap stock 12" barrel and then a 16" evil pipe barrel, of course the evil pipe will be more accurate and generally better, but take a 12" evil and a 16" evil there wont be much difference, just with the 16" u can bayonet fools more easily :D

what barrels were u using btw?

12" to 14" is usually considered optimum for effeciency and consistency..... less than 12" you waste gas and more than 14" you've used your push by 14" the rest of the barrel is just turbulence and friction........ accuracy is more down to your paint and barrel being compatible..... better paint will improve your shots more than a better barrel...... for every £25 extra you spend on a barrel set you'd get the same effect by spending a few quid extra on a box of paint. A shorter barrel is handy for mobility when your up front or playing tiny bunkers, a longer barrel is handy for aiming down and pushing bunkers aside. As for range, a longer barrel will increase it slightly.....an 18" barrel will increase range over a 16" by say 2" :) So, buy a decent set of barrels so you can match the bore of your paint, the length is just down to taste and playing style.
The most important bit of kit you use (after your mask) is often the most overlooked.... it's your paint, don't buy cheap inconsistent leather shelled crap..... your game will improve immediately.

ive read somewhere so take this with a pinch of salt, that a pb's acceleration is optimum after 6". so the remaining length of the barrel will add or decrease properties to the flightpath. (spiral/straight porting, friction, noise reduction, bla bla...).

remember that to much isnt always better, ive got a 21" spyder barrel thought it'll be fun. it is cack. it suffers from the markers vibrations, it is bulky and hard to move with. and it makes my balls drop a lot shorter than what cold water and strong wind could ever do to my other balls.

so yeah basically there isnt really too great a need to go above 14 or below 12. but there are some nifty tricks to pull off with a 16" and dont have to be done during dutch sex shows, although i wouldnt mind seeing some.

for example indenting supair bunkers with your 16" barrel so you can get greater field of fire whilst keeping as tight as a ten year olds bum is one, and runnig the rims of the tyred bunkers of speedball fields. just buy quality kit. and take note from the last poster. plus if you want that extra bit of range, then try taking a few steps forward.

buy good paint and maintain your gun, these are the best improvements of accuracey.

i personally don't see any difference with the bore sizes. Just go with the biggest bore you got. I have for a couple of years, and Ive had no probs. No need to spend oodles on expensive barrel kits.
