More questions...

I have an automag and when I bought it I got given 7 different barrels, some of which are different lengths. Just wondering what a short barrel (10 inches is the shortest I have) is good for and what a longer barrel (14-15 inches) is good for, if there is any difference between them apart from length?

Thanks

IMHO, very little indeed! From my understanding, any barrel of 9" or more has the length to allow the paintball to reach full speed, after that, it matters not. I personally prefer a lightly longer barrel for woodsball, where you might often be having thread the barrel through leaves etc, and have no preference when playing sup'air.

Perfect length IMO is a 14" barrel, it's not to cumbersome unlike some of the ridiculous 18"-20" barrels but the extra length over the 10"-12" barrels seems to make it a little easy to point/get on target.

Shorter barrel needs less air to get desired velocity. I preffer 12"
That does depend though - on an extreme basis switching barrel to a 3" would drop the velocity on my x7 (because it had less distance to accelerate)
I could reasonably confidently swap barrels for a normal 280fps or a CQB game at 250fps and not need to adjust when I arrived at chrono
