I like 14. I think it is easier to sight with the extra two inches. Good for hyperball, too... you can put the longer barrels in the groove and expose less of you.

Just make sure it fits the paint you are using most. I hate when every other ball is rolling out the end of the barrel. This is mainly a problem for us of the closed bolt persuasion.

I would say 12".I don't know if the extra 2" will make much difference if your trying to get tight into your bunker. I'm not a front player so I wouldn't know.

Personal preference I suppose. Might be better to get a barrel set of some sort instead. That way you can always add/subtract length and get a perfect barrel match as well.

I play at the front and I'm using a 12" at the moment (means I don't have to hang back as far from the bunker when snap shooting), but the more I play sup-air, the more I am taking heed (sp?) of the old sages' advice of 14" to move bunkers aside...

What are you using at the moment and why are you considering changing?

£50 is a fair price obviously, seen a few boonies for sale lately and have been tempted myself! However, you'll still get the same paint to barrel match problems no matter what length.

Mind you, if you've not had a problem with it before, no reason why should in the future!

Searching for the pro-tour....:S
Our front guy uses a 10" freak on his e-blade and seems to do okay.

Before that he shot an old evo with a 16 jt barrel which he mostly fell over!!!!!:D

I prefer 10" barrels for snap shooting and ease of movement. I'm a mid guy though so get a little more breathing space than you.

scuse me for my noobness, but what did you mean by 'move bunkers aside?

while I'm here, what factors should I consider when buying a new barrel ? I mean in relation to length because alot of makes offer from 10" to 18" - what the hell should I be choosing for length??

Hi there, well I am by no means an expert on this, but the general idea is that on Sup-Air fields (the ones with inflatables) you use the barrel to push into the obstacle, meaning that you are showing as little of your body and equipment to the opposition as possible with only your barrel poking out.

Obviously by having a longer barrel you can push more of the inflatable out of the way.

The flip side is if you want to have a compact marker (if you play at the front of a team) set-up. A 10 or 12" barrel means you have a smaller marker and can therefore hide yourself and tuck in easier behind smaller bunkers.

It just comes down to personal preference really. Most people tend to use a 14" barrel. Some prefer 16, some 12. The length in itself doesn't really effect accuracy or range...
