Barrels are rarely the exact stated length (i.e a 16" AA Barrel may well be 15.5" etc)

put the freak together and fit it to your marker, then run a tape from the end of the barrel to where it joins your marker, that is your barrel length.

amd you measure tips by how long they are when the back is added (i.e a 16" tip would make a 16" barrel) :)

Yes. Kinda. With a Freak system it also depends a bit on what combination of front/back you use.

A 16" freak barrel is made up of a 5" back section and a 11" front section. HOWEVER, this only applies if you're using the TEARDROP style front (the one with the flare/bulge at the end).

The All American style front (straight all the way down, spiral porting a good deal of the length of the tip) was designed to fit on an All American back, which was 6" long. Therefore, to make a 16" AA style barrel, the tip is only 10" long.

Since the AA back and the Freak back have the same thread, the tips are interchangable, but if you use an AA tip, the overall length (when using a Freak back) will only be 15", whereas with a Teardrop tip the overall length will be the stated 16". Generally, these are both refered to as 16".

Confused? I was... ;)

All measurements are still approximate, but the key is this difference between the lengths of the Freak back and the AA back.
