Hey guys

bout to Buy an Ion and think i will get the whole lot in one go, Marker, Barrel system, New Hopper ect ect.. But i need some help with the Barrel system,
Thought bout getting a freak system and looks easy enough except i dont understand the whole insert thing and which one to get?? I just think that i would naturaly choose the wrong one. I know it all depends on what paint you use, but im not really fussy, i dont buy the worst stuff usually spend round £35 per box from paintball site and tent to trust them that it will be ok.
anyone got any views on what size insert would be ok??

Cheers

hi ive got a full freak kit that i bought for my ion and i fully recomend it, it is so veratile and accurate if you keep the inserts in good condition only thing to keep in mind is to put abit of dow 33 or any other grease you use on the outside of the insert before putting it in the back then its easy to pull out and change ,some people lick the insert to lube it up with saliva but this will make it stick in the back as it dries out. the best size to get first is the gold one (cant remember the size)as this is the best compromise its also the insert you get if you buy the freak junior and the best bit for me was i bought a cocker back for my cocker and when i bought an angel speed i bought a back for that as well so have the same system for all three of my gats oh and also i dont know if its just me but some of the very big sizes and some very small inserts i have never used hope this has helped

If you only get one insert, get one of the biggies (.693 or .695) - that way you're sure any old paint will fit down it.

That said, unless you intend to buy more inserts later on, you could save some cash and buy a plain 2-piece barrel. Most people I know have given up fussing endlessly over paint to barrel match, and just use the largest bore they have.
