im looking to buy a new barrel as i only have the stock one on my pmr was wondering what the best ones to buy are? After doing some scoping around on the forum the main 4 that have cropped up are:

Freak kit
Dye UL
Unitec
stiffi

now i know its all down to preference but which one is best to buy in your opinion? what bore size is best to get? (not looking to buy a number of different bore sizes) and how much do they all generally go for?

any help will be muchly appreciated :)

U/ls are great and plenty about on the second hand market. Also on a par try planets shaft and shaft 2 very light, accurate and reverse thread on the font section so good for getting it off the gat.

I personally like the freak kit as you can buy the one kit with interchangeable inserts and fit your paint to the barrel. I know some people prefer to have one big bore and stick with that.

I used to agree with lezzo and used to love the freak but found the inserts damaged too easily i also found the shafts and the ultralites to be more accurate and more robust.

You really need to try a couple of different barrels and see what you prefer. Most guys will give you go with theres so just ask around, i did that and bit by bit built myself a barrel kit with 4 backs and 2 tips to cover all options.

I haven't used a Stiffi so I'm not going to comment on them, but I do own a u/l set, stainless steel freak set and a shaft 2 set. Personally I find the u/l and the shaft sets to be just about on par with each other, whilst the freak kit I'm not so keen on any more. I also used to own a full Unitec set, and I found it to be quite lacking. Maybe I was just unlucky enough to get a few "lemon" barrels as everyone else seems to love them.

Silhouette FTW!
The most affordable CF barrel kit on the market! only £60 which will get you 5 backs and a front. The backs are 4 inch long aliminium with an 8 inch CF front. They shoot awesome, really straight and hardly any barrel breaks what so ever. And they come in a padded case with a barrel sock ;)
Seriously good barrels and great value for a CF kit with the amount of backs you get.
