Barrel Back and Tip

I have a Proto Matrix Rail and i don't really like my stock barrel.
I have purchased a Dye UL Barrel back , but would i need to buy a UL Barrel tip aswell ? Or can a back be used on its own ? Im confused lol

you'll need both pieces to make a complete barrel, a back is no use on its own
