Backup?? and big games

Hi guys, been playing irregularly for well a little while, and have had to have another year off due to shoulder surgery, and am desperate to get playing again. Now mainly i have just been playing walkons at my local site but wanna play more big games, going to staargate in a coupla weeks, and am wondering:
a) how many of these style of games are played through the year, and
b)whether it is worth getting a backup, perhaps a pistol? current setup is an egripped A5 on c02.

I'm no mod, but I'd okay it. Have a read of the rec-ball forum, there's more info there for ya about big games and the like.

theres a few big games all over the country its just getting to them.. just to name a few you have;

Stargate
timewars
north vs south
battle of the buldge

and a back up.. cant hurt to be prepared

cheers,i checked the rec ball thread, musta been blind or stupid.... anyhow any advice on a decent backup, either a pistol? how good are they? or a mar ker i can tinker with for around 100 pounds
