avatars and names

Dudes!

I have got two stars and I want to know how I can change my namey thing from amateur to something else??
Also, how the hell do you put avatars on this and do you have to have a certain sized picture to do it? I have a scanner but would I have to fiddle around with the image before I can put it on this?

In your user settings go to Edit profile and then half way down is Custom text and write what you want...thats the first one
Avatar, this is on Edit options, at the bottom you upload it from your own pc like click and drag and yes it does have to be a certain size but the info for it size is in the boxes for the avatar upload

this sucks 15k for the image file how the hell do i crop of enough from a 42k file to get it to work
