Avalanche Overhaul! Lasoya and Five Others Hit The Road
Avalanche will be getting a big-time overhaul for the 2003. Longtime members Chris Lasoya, Mark Knop, John Richardson, and newer editions Travis Lemanski, "LB" Brian Fow, and Rusty Glaze are no longer going to play for the team.
"Let's just say we had a pretty big difference of opinion on a number of issues, and those guys really weren't interested in making any compromises," said Avalanche owner Ed Poorman.
Longtime fixtures Sean Ellis and Rocky Cagnoni, along with Poorman, will stay with the team. Eric Roberts, getting known for his R11 Angel Bolt as much as his play on the field, will remain part of Avalanche as well, even though he will be taking most of the 2003 season off to finish his last semesters at Chico State University. "Scuba" Steve Rabackoff, currently recuperating from an injury, will remain on the roster as well.
Look for Avalanche to make some additions over the next few months, some old school, as well as some young, new talent, as they prepare for competing in both the NPPL 7 Man Super Series Circuit and the Millennium Series Circuit.
"We are definitely looking forward to a kind of a new beginning with Avalanche," said Dan Napoli, Avalanche's Director of Marketing & Promotion. "We've still got a great foundation with Rocky, Ed, Ellis, and Rab, but the influx of new talent both on and off the field will really benefit Avalanche. Let's face it, things got stale this year, and Avalanche's performance on the field showed it. Large scale change can be a great catalyst for developing a new vibe, and new success."
