If your are looking at mag's I would strongly recomend getting one with eather a vert feed or power feed. Mags tend to have bad blowback with the classic feed.

Next prob is they tend to be a little hard on paint

This is a very personal choice but I HATE MAG TRIGGERS!!! Now thats just me but I could never get used to them so try one first.(E-mag is different though)

i used a mag for the last 3 years (just got an eclipse impulse) and the only problem i've EVER had with it was it icing up when someone gave my a syphon tube bottle! other than that i never even had to change a single o ring on it.

i bought a full parts kit when i got the gun (second hand) and i sold it a few weeks ago with a full parts kit. That gun was so reliable it just wasn't true!
the trigger is a bit of an acquired taste but when you do get the hang of it you can shoot nice strings of paint.

basically if your looking for a first marker then you could do a lot worse! it's the smplest gun to take apart ever so if it ever does go wrong you will be able to tell whats up with it.

hope that helps

I got my old mag when they were the top of the range tourney marker (many, many years ago) & never, ever had a problem with it. Nearly my whole team ran them & we only ever once got a hot gun (dirt in the reg). They are so easy to maintain that even I had no problems & they happily run on air or CO2.
Used to automatically change the O rings about once a year just in case, but they always looked Ok when I did them.
It hadn't been used for about 5 years & I pulled it out a few months ago, screwed a bottle on it & it ran like a dream.

The way to run a mag is to keep it stock - aftermarker parts do nothing really, and wear out a lot quicker.

If you choose on anything else but powerfeed then I suggest a "long nose" bolt from AGD to get rid of the blowback. Its better just to get a powerfeed, it feeds faster and isnt affected by blowback.

Personally I wouldn't buy a stock Mag, basically because of the point of resale value and needing of extra $$$ to configure. Get an RT instead. Granted, there isn't that much all that wrong with Mags at times, but you're going to want the retro feature almost immediately and for the fact that unless you get a particularly good deal you're going to spend as much putting it together as you will on the gun itself. However, if you do get it used and already set up, then you might have yourself a bargain. NEVER buy a plain Mag new. EVER. Just don't do it. Believe me, you don't want to have what happened to me happen to you. It was like buying skiing equipment piece by piece retail with taxes.

Nope lost me there, what extra costs are there as apposed to an RT? I run a Mag as a spare marker only thing extra on it is an expansion setup. It`ll run on air or co2 and at about half the price of an RT,don`t forget you need an air system on an RT `cos they won`t run on co2.In my experience 90% of all aftermarket work done on Mags is pointless. My main marker is an Emag but I still use the Mag a lot ,its a nice trouble free bit of kit, most problems tend to be user caused.

Mag was my first marker

I bought a mag as my first marker and I still use it now. Easy to use and maintain, just make sure you oil it regulary and always have a lot of o-rings spare.

The super bolt thing that jermanboy mentioned might not be a good idea, ithink they have been recalled because their dangerous.
