Automag help, macroline bits and cheap steelie needed.

Hi all,

So I've got this mag from someone at work. It's a classic, but engraved with the A.I.R instead underneath 68 Automag. The serial number is fairly high, but I'm still struggling to identify the iteration of the internals.

He wants me to try and get it working for him, but it needs a couple of bits.

I aired it up with what I'll be honest was almost nothing left in my tank, maybe 2/300psi and it leaked profusely from the female quick disconnect attached to the valve. Upon closer inspection, the brass fitting was cracked so no wonder it leaked.

I've ordered a replacement, but it's going to take an age to get here. So in the meantime I thought I'd try something that has been suggested.

I'm after 2 90 degree swivel macroline elbows and a fair length of flexible macroline so that I can run it right from the ASA to the valve. I've told my mate that he can run it on HPA and do away with the CO2 expansion bottle and braided hose, so I'll be after a very budget steelie as near to Birmingham as possible to save on postage.

If anyone can help with those bits, the cheaper the better as I'm paying to fix this myself at the moment, I'd be well chuffed and depending on how it goes I might buy it off him and turn it into a nice project marker with a new grip frame and body :)

Drop Foot on here a pm he had some macro fittings and line,
feed the valve straight from the asa, the Valve itself has a built in regulator :)

You'll also need 700-800psi air pressure left in the tank or classic valve won't cycle very well. Mags were high pressure markers designed for input pressure of unregulated C02. Provided the seals are ok and leaky hose fixed on yours it should run fine on HP air. Make sure you keep valve/regulator unit well oiled - mags like to be kept well lubricated. This manual may help

Bullseye : will keep it in mind dude, thanks for the offer but I think it may be slightly bending the rules :p

Thanks also to you guys for the other posts, some good advice there. I did know they like a lot of oil, this one seems pretty much intact, seals and all. I guess it may have been sitting for a long time and just needs a good clean, oiling up and some hpa.

I stripped it down and have started to remove what looks like blackboard paint from the grip frame, brittle, vile stuff it is. I might see if I can borrow a Dremel and sand it off with a fine grit attachment.

I wish I hadn't have bothered with the female q/d now, but it was only about £4 so it can go in spare gubbinz... I'll have a goose at LiPS, I'm at B.o.B so I'll email them and see what they can bring along.
