Not trying to throw a spanner in the works, but training on astroturf when not actually playing tourney on astroturf? discuss..
As opposed to

Not trying to throw a spanner in the works, but training on mud/dust when not actually playing tourney on mud/dust? discuss..
Given that

a) BW is also a tournament venue

b) Due to the popularity of BW as a training and events venue the available field surface has taken quite a hammering and with the particularly bad winter it didn't get a chance to recover when the site was closed.

c) I think most people would prefer to be able to train than not, plus Yorkie has already stated further up the thread that the current field 1 will remain as a grass field.

Of course Yorkie could have closed down the whole training side of the site until all the grass had recovered and lost all the teams, players and organisers support he has enjoyed.

why astro turf

Not trying to throw a spanner in the works, but training on astroturf when not actually playing tourney on astroturf? discuss..
i have been involved with training venues now for just over 10 years and due to them coming and going, there has been only a few that have grown enough to have a good following, the pitches however take a hammering, with a football pitch you run all over the field same in rugby and nearly all other sports, however paintball has defined lines and areas that get used all the time and its near on impossable to have a perfect grass pitch, unless you have thousands of pounds to spend on pitch maintainance, this is one of the main bareings on me putting down astro turf its hard wareing, also in autum winter and spring with the weather, most popular training venues suffer with the same problem MUD!! this i hope will be a thing of the past at bricket wood, now the fields have been ploughed the drainage system that is under our pitch will work again, and my final reason is that some torni's play on astro and some on grass thats why im keeping my new No1 pitch as grass (however this will close in autum and not reopen till spring) and the astro pitches will be open all year round, you will get a choice weather to practice on grass or astro, as the mear cat says SIMPLES !
i have always said at bricket wood we want your feed back good or bad if its good were getting it right if its bad hopefully we can change it, so dont be affraid to voice your views as long as its done in a respectfull or constructive way
cheers

You dont have to justify it to me, its your site, and you do what you and the players wanted to do, i just wanted to throw the question out there to see what people thought of it, im not going to give my opinion, i just like to see what people think of different ideas, and what direction people may like to go in.

i have been involved with training venues now for just over 10 years and due to them coming and going, there has been only a few that have grown enough to have a good following, the pitches however take a hammering, with a football pitch you run all over the field same in rugby and nearly all other sports, however paintball has defined lines and areas that get used all the time and its near on impossable to have a perfect grass pitch, unless you have thousands of pounds to spend on pitch maintainance, this is one of the main bareings on me putting down astro turf its hard wareing, also in autum winter and spring with the weather, most popular training venues suffer with the same problem MUD!! this i hope will be a thing of the past at bricket wood, now the fields have been ploughed the drainage system that is under our pitch will work again, and my final reason is that some torni's play on astro and some on grass thats why im keeping my new No1 pitch as grass (however this will close in autum and not reopen till spring) and the astro pitches will be open all year round, you will get a choice weather to practice on grass or astro, as the mear cat says SIMPLES !
