Hi all,

1) If paintball was to be officially classified as a SPORT, it means in future, organizers have to take account of drugs' testing, aight?? Just like any other sport in the world be it soccer, football, tennis, cycling....etc..

2) Is paintball considered/classified as a sport anywhere in the world ?? I know it's recognised as an extreme sport worldwide (X-games) & is currently the 3rd most popular extreme sport after skateboarding and inline-skating.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. Open for views and discussion...

Cheers,
Allan

As far as I know it's wholly dependant on under what flag all this would happen. Let's say that it was part of the Olympics, then yeah, drug testing and such would have to be done.
However, using my own country as an example now, if paintball were to establish it's own official national league here in Holland, drug testing would not be mandatory. The league could have it included in it's own rules, but there is no law saying that any sports league, paintball or otherwise, has to have these things.

I have never been tested for drugs when I played American football here in Holland. I got regular tests over in the US though.

What and you passed? ;)

As far as I know the Malaysian sports federation has made paintball a recognised sport. Not sure on the drugs testing side - however I think the penalties for drugs use over there is pretty harsh to say the least anyhow
