Whats your budget? Can pick up leopard for £100 new and build your own for about 600-700 total.
but you could get a brand new macbook for £749 with a a warranty and everything.
which would be enough for a young music student.
Dark Warrior, I can't remember if it was you that was asking a couple of weeks ago but the refurb section on the apple store can be good for getting a cheaper than usual mac.

also, this is a little shop on Goodge street in london that does second hand macs. it's been there for some time. Give them a call, they may be of some assistance. I bought an iMac from them once very cheap.
