a free, downloadable MP3 editor that isn't crap? All I wanna do is split a song up. Thought I'd ask and get a reccomendation rather than download some virus ridden piece of crap.

I'd normally ask in the plat section, but I'm currently non-plat.

I use absolute mp3 splitter pretty sure there is a trial version

You can use the windows movie maker and save it as a .WMA, and then just change the file extension to .mp3.
You don't have to download anything then.

I could tell you, but first I need to know that you are not ripping off any copyrighted material or attempting to use a track without paying for it.

Actually, one way or another, you're being a pikey. If you want to edit music using the desired software, then pay for the software. If you want a tune, pay for it.

If you want a population of pikeys where nothing gets done and life generally sucks then ignore my advice above.

Otherwise, PAY.

Or use a Linux based OS then everything is free

Failing that use sound recorder built into windows and record the part you want while playing it and record through your sound card
