Its supposed to be getting better out there, but not everyone is seeing it. Sorry to hear your news Lump, hopefully the new year will bring better news. I got made redundant in February, fortunately I had enough put by/got enough of a settlement/have found enough work since to keep my head above water, though at times its been tough. I could still do with a more regular income to pay the bills though.
At least you're in a job that can't be done by a computer (yet!), other areas of the trade seem to be getting hit hard. I went to get a thermostat for my mum's Fiesta this morning, the guy I've known for years behind the counter who would have just plucked it off the shelf had been made redundant. The 14 year old on work experience insisted on the full registration number (I went round the corner and took one off a car parked in the street) and eventually he returned with a QH thermostat with a million & one gaskets in the box!!! Was talking to a mate who runs his own garage later, he was out on a test drive and dropped by a local main dealership to pick something up and had exactly the same experience, except he took a reg number off a car on their forecourt.
Good luck with finding something new, I know Lemon had a bit of a rocky time a while ago but that worked out in the end!
the site we work on is owned by Coventry airport, and that has just gone into receivership. So we have been given notice end of January. and being self employed wont get a penny
