I have realised recently, just why paintball is not a spectator sport, and will probably not be unless our viewing audience changes majorly.
the problem is that a game of paintball has no real central focus. if you look at current big spectator sport, the game has a focud like a ball in tennis, footy or american football. in other sports, like skating, there is a fix on one person. in racing there is a focus on the lead spot.
paintbal is basically 5+ people shooting at each other. there is a focus like a flag, but that doesn't enter play until much later in the game, and it's usually at the end.
paintball needs to be spectated with a bird's eye view of the feild, or possibly an animated, simplified diagram with a coupla commentators explaining what is heppening. the crowd should be high up so they have a rough idea of where to go.
just my 2p.
p.s super 7 was well on it's way to being this. finally, properly done tournies outside europe!!
