Hi all ive just got in to paintball and have just got the mini for my 1st gun. Now one problem i seem to get is splitting paint when hitting good bps and was wondering if this is due to the BIP setting as i have a empire sound activated hopper. Now in the manual default is 5 but ive read that that setting if for high feed hoppers and i dont think mine can feed paint as fast as i need it to. So by setting the BIP to a higher setting would this stop the problem and if so by how much should i increase it.
Or is there a better way to solve this ?.
Thanks Paul.

when you say its splitting paint, is the paint breaking in the breach or barrel ?
when you say hitting good BPS, are you talking in the 20's ?
what paint are you using and how old is it ?
Is the marker new/secondhand ?
post up all your settings..

Im sure BOLTER will be here soon with plenty of help:cool:

Hi m8
The marker is new and has had 2500 balls or so shot with it and the paint is new and is draxxus field . The paint seems to be split as it comes out the barrel as i can see the half shell pop out and it seems to be when hitting 15 and over and maybe less sometimes . All settings are stock and with semi-auto on the firing mode.
Its set at 200 psi and was hitting 282 on the chrono and out of the 1000 i shot this wk end i got 8 split balls and people who had the same gun and paint had none so it must be hopper related ?..

reloader b should keep up with 15bps no problem.
Are batteries fresh ?
are there any breaks in the hopper or feedneck ?

On your reloader b, did you switch hopper on before putting paint in? (this is advise for the sound activated reloader b , the spring will put tension or force onto the ball stack)

Funny you should say that because i just cleaned my gun and decided to put a hopper full threw it and on the 3rd ball it split and i was only firing a ball a second so that could be part of the problem as the rest of the hopper fired fine.

Well ive put a new poppet in as ive read that some old one`s could cause blowback and cause the ball to get chopped and the old poppet did have paint in there when cleaning. Ive not used the gun since then but i will this wk end so will report back then with good new`s i hope. Also when i re-grease the gun do i grease the big end of the poppet but leave the small end dry ???
Thanks Paul

How to properly clean and lube your bolt and poppet:

# Remove the bolt assembly.
# Remove the spring.
# Remove the bolt from the bolt guide.
# Remove the velocity adjuster from the back cap.
# Remove the poppet from its housing.
# Wipe all lube off of all of these parts and if necessary, clean paint/lube from the markers body.
# Don't use the entire tub of lube, but put a healthy amount on the entire exterior of the bolt and make sure to put some on the rubber tip.
# Put a generous amount on the bolt guide.
# Put the bolt back on the guide and move it back and forth to make sure that it is evenly coated.
# Lube all other rings on the assemble that might have been left out from lubing already.
# Lube the oring of the poppet and gently replace it all the way forward with the small end facing forward. Make sure that the delrin face is dry as well as the aluminium that it seats up against. Make sure that the little hole is clear of lube and debris by blowing through the back of the poppet.
# Lube the ring on the velocity adjuster and replace the adjuster.
# Replace the return spring to the bolt making sure it fully snaps in place.
# Replace the entire assembly to the marker.

Thanks for the info bolter and my problem is now fixed i think. One other thing because ive put in a new poppet what is the best was to break it in ?? I was told that i could turn the velocity down and then dry fire the gun on full auto for a few minutes but would this not damage the gun ??
Cheers Paul
