before you all start i know that air is more consistant, better for your marker etc but what i want to know is will air work with any marker?

I ask because the students union is less than generous on our equipment budget, so the club may have to get mechanical markers (possible JT Tac 5) but with air, eletric hoppers etc this year and then upgrade to ions or something next year.

What do you think? Also any other student teams out there please let me know how you got a round this situation, i was at the torny on saturday so i know you found a way.

Air will work with any marker mate co2 will not. Up at aberdeen our markers are our own (stundent loan:)).

New a tac 5 will cost you abot 80-95 quid and an ion around 170-180. If you playing tourneys a tac 5 won't keep up, i got to use one at our local site and it is a good site gun but you can't even replace the barrel (very chunky threads).

If you were looking to out fit a team and you had the cash then most of the big companys could possibly cut you a deal.

Sadly there doesn't seem to be an easy answer (if there is could you us :D)

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice, the club as a whole is still undecided as to stick with woods ball or turn to speed ball. All of us at the torny loved it but i would be the only one who could afford the whole lot of kit :)D NHS student grant) but the others could afford markers and use club tanks and hoppers.

as they all said.. get air if you can, it will work with any marker, and is generally cleaner and a lot better for your marker than CO2..

Also, in future, if you upgrade markers.. chances are they wouldnt run on CO2 but air will run on anything..

The only, and i do mean only advantage to CO2 is that the bottle is cheaper to begin with. After that, more expensive to run, Fewer and fewer sites actually offer it as most are goin over to air, bad for any marker, inconsitent dependent on temperature, and finally completely incompatible with all newer/ High end markers. All in All, has to be air.

Thanks for your help this was one of the things that we talked aabout at last nights meeting and it was decided that the club was going to go along the speedball way. We are going to apply for a massive budget in the hope that we get enough for some decent kit.

OK so ive got another question which is along the same lines but i didnt want to start another thred.

What is the difference between LPA and HPA and is one better than the other? And do some markers only work with a certain type?

LPA is low pressure so the preset bottle has an output of about 450psi. Angels will only work with LPA.

HPA is high pressure so the preset has an output of 850psi. Most guns like Egos, SP guns, Matrixes run on HPA and is probably more common than LPA.

Hey Monk, where in Bristol do you live? Despite my name, i'm living in Horfield now. Myself and my housemate usually have second hand guns going (got a fair few at the mo), or I may be able to have a word with some guys and see what i can get you. What tourneys are you planning on doing?
