i was wondering... why are all our markers anodized? i mean, why not something like powder coated or mebe even just plain ol painted? i mean... cars are just painted, why not markers?

car dont usually have a projectile being fired at them...paint chips and scratches easily enough where as anodising is putting the colour in the pores of the metal so that it doesn't chip...

The other reason...is because ali, oxidizes almost instantly in air..so you would be painting teh oxide coating and not the metal...which is why it doesnt stick as well....anno, is applied in a tank of liquid, which colours teh metal itself, then when its removed, teh oxide forms over the top.

Powder coat is great, but doesnt allow teh same creativity that anno does

yea i get the whole oxidising thing is tougher. i'm not gonna even bother asking if paint is even as durable as anno. but i was wondering... cars have to deal with the weather (like hail) and other projectiles (like bird poo and bikers), not to mention big men sliding accross the hood :p

so i was wondering, i know that paint isn't as tough as anno, but is it tough enough for paintball use?

depends on the type of paint really, and what material you are painting, if its a marker, a few nice evenly applied coats should do the job (with the proper priming), but it all depends on the quality of the paint and paintjob really, it could work but i wouldnt want to do it myself

i would see about anno personally, use yell.com to see if there is anywhere locally that will do it for you
