Are there any internal differences between the lcd and the ir3? Do both have the COPS and such, or is the entire gun different?

The IR3's ram is shorter (because the body is shorter), it's elecronic board and trigger are different, the LCD doesn't have COPS. Internally there isn't much diff, just one's shorter than the other
The IR3 14-way is smaller which allowed the shorter body & ram, and the bolt on the IR3 has a groove cut in it to clear the COPS sensor, but other than that it's identical to the LCD bolt.
Also the IR3 uses a IR beam to trigger the gun rather that an microswitch. Means the trigger/firing mechanism doesnt wear out.
So why would anyone buy an lcd now? The price isn't much different unless you're buying one used. Are there any benfits to owning an lcd instead of an ir3?
Why buy an LCD? Barring COPS and a slight weight difference, the LCD can do everything the IR3 can.
You can pick up some really nice deals on 2nd hand LCDs because the market has gone daft and assumed that now the IR3 is out the LCD is suddenly a crap marker - go figure.

Only the later IR3s have the optical boards, the early models use a microswitch just like the LCD. The best benefit of the new optical board (other than taunting early buyers of the IR3 like me) is that you can set the trigger pull to half the width of a human hair - they didn't specify which sort of hair, but I'm going to use pubic hair for mine.

Without the cops and with that high rate of fire, won't an LCD be a chopping machine? I guess it wouldn't seeing as everyone used to use one and I never heard any complaints, but I can't seem to find mention of it in any of the reviews. Do they chop like crazy or what?
i think i had about three chopped balls out of the whole millenium series this year. and i think two of those was because of wrong barrel sizes!! the angel lcd is a great gun
Well like most markers you get good ones and you get 'right stinkers' My angel was a chopaholic. other people don't have a problem. I know I've seen people still chopping even with cops set up!
