The new Speed detents are diff. from previous models? That sucks. WDP has had the same detent threads since the LED, why the hell would they change them? I wonder if the 4 will be the same way.
Anyhow, if it comes right down to it, you can always use Vise Grips to get them off. I got the detent stuck on my IR3, stripped the hole the allen key goes into (long story), and the only way to get it off was by means of Vise Grips. It totally destroyed the detent, but it got it off. Now I have a three piece System X that's about 200 times better anyway, so I guess it was all for the best. But if you absolutely HAVE to get them off, and you're willing to shell out a few bucks for a new one, that works.
