Increasing your dwell will decrease the pressure your marker runs at, but it will also decrease your efficiency. If you have always got LOADS of air left at the end of a game then do it, but otherwise just leave it alone :)

Increasing the dwell does not directly reduce pressure, however it allows you to make other changes to do so.

Dwell is the setting for how long the ram holds the hammer forward, thus keeping the valve open and gas flowing - for a high dwell setting, the valve is held open longer.

Closely associated with Dwell in the operation of the Angel is the LPR pressure. Basically this controls how fast and hard the ram moves the hammer. As the LPR pressure drops, the valve is opened less, reducing the amount of gas that will flow before the ram withdraws and the valve closes.

The idea is that as you increase dwell, you need to reduce LPR pressure, and vice versa. With high dwell/low LPR you are meant to put less impact on the ball and thus can use more brittle paint, at the expense of gas efficiecny.

For a dwell of 17, try removing 2-3 shims, thus reducing the LPR pressure of your LCD by approx. 7 to 10 psi.

Yeah, don't fix it if it ain't broken. Unless you're chopping alot or otherwise having problems shooting, leave your dwell alone. Sounds like you're running a from-the-manual setup, so 14 should be fine for your dwell setting. What made you decide 17 was the lucky number anyway?

Oh, and by the way, I certainly hope you meant to say you're running 600-650 into the mini reg. I assumed that's what you meant.

ok, heres the situation: at the mo i have loads of gas left over at the end of each game but am also chopping quite a lot.. BUT i am having my angel aced and purchasing an egg2 to replace my X-board revvy, as to try and reduce this problem, but have had quite a problem with the more britle paint we have recently been using and heard that a dwell of 17 was more suited to brittle paint.

(incidently my max rate of fire is set to 11bps so i dont think its a matter of fireing to fast more a matter of bolt pressure.)

Any more advicce would be greatly appreciated.

Before spending money on upgrades, i would get it fully serviced by a qualified angel tech. He or she will not only fix and correctly set up your baby, but let you know what is worn and needs attention in the future.
You may find that when the marker is set up correctly all the problems dissapear.

There are a few techs within your area, including myself.
