Like any rechargable battery, it depends on how you treat them, I am sure you would be able to pick a new one up from the classifieds a lot cheaper than that, yeah the feedneck will fit a halo

i can supply a replacement battery pack for around £20 - £30.

I would go for the A1 if you can afford it.

This is going to sound daft, but i would stick with a speed 05 rather than the G7. The speed is better value for money, and still uses the old barrel thread, so you'll be able to get a barrel set easier. And it uses a PP3 battery.

The speed 05 had most of the good upgrades on it, and i don't feel that it's worth upgrading past the speed 05, unless you go to the A1. With the barrels, the speed 06 and g7's have a slightly different thread layout to the A1. Although you can use the speed 06/g7 barrels on the A1 there is a 6mm gap, which is only cosmetic and doesn't stop the barrels from working perfectly. As far as buying second hand barrels for angels, there are far more barrels available for the speed 05 range than the speed06/G7/A1 range.
