American Markers and uk Markers???

I have seen a few comments popping up about how buying a marker from america results in an invalid warranty in the uk! Now i am not challenging it because i feel the uk paintballing scene should be advertised more and more so it really takes off and that we should support the uk dealers. I am wondering, how can "techs" and "companies" tell the difference between an american marker or a uk marker?
