American & European tourney's...

Ok, so we've all heard of the big international tournaments that take place such as the NPPL's, NXL's, Millenium series and the PSP...etc, etc.

Now in Britain we have our begginer/mid range class tourneys such as the PA, UK masters, Series (R.I.P?) etc...so what are the names of the equivilent tourney's that the rest of Europe and America have?

they have regional tourneys all over america, there is the cfoa i think its called in california.

In terms of the level of skill in teams competing in that event could you say;

cfoa = PA

...or are American mid-class tourney's in a whole world of their own by contrast to ours in terms of team skill?

The Americans are actually quite different, as Robbo mentioned on the NSPL forums. He commented that the American teams were so much more aggressive and confident, us Brits as well as other Europeans aren't at that level yet even in the top ranks.

CFOA = Carolina Field Owners Association. It's a southeast regional series.

There are a number of regional series, such as the XPSL (west coast, mainly Cali), GPL and CCPL (northeast), and CFOA (southeast).

Then there are the local events that range from 3 man young guns up to 7 man warm ups for the regional and national events. I think the main difference is that the US has more local and regional events than europe, which gives players more experience faster.

And who's gonna play them?

The UK has something like 3000 players that have their own kit and play more than six times a year, there is only just enough players/teams to support the number of series we have at the moment.

The serious, dedicated teams already play at the highest level they can (Mostly Mill.Series events and few domestic ones), the other teams/group of friends play Campaign and UK events.

This year has already seen the Series 2k6 and D7's stop putting on regional events due to a lack of teams!
