Am i the only one that gets reall passionate and goes o.t.t with my arguements when people who have never played rec-ball and have never watched any of the tourneys tell me that paintball isn't a sport?

I was in my media lesson at college when this incident took place and i found myself getting, well annoyed. How can someone who has never been in game situation judge us 'ballers to not be sportsmen/women.

Any comments and good arguements i can use are welcome.

people are fearful of what they dont understand, so to make themselves more comfortable, make sense of things that make sense to them. Paintball is a small world, and if its not on TV, how can it be a sport in their eyes?
its a matter of experience over arrogance. the only way to win an argument like that is say, dont believe me, come down n play, or look at this tourny ball video.
some people will never understand.

You could tell them that whilst they are certain Paintball is not a Sport the the Sports Councils (a government body) are apparently not so certain because their Chief Executives are holding a full meeting very soon on the issue of formal recognition of Paintball

I know this because I was actually on the phone to them this morning. I can't promise they'll say yes but it sounded pretty positive, and it's very unusual to hold a full executive meeting of Sport England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland just to debate one topic

I'll keep you all posted :)

Ah yes BUT some people are TRULY ARROGANT & dont want to learn/know anything also maybe from a person that may know more than themselfs then be dissuaded though the matter. So then they'll try to p1ss u off to make u sound like ur wrong.
Well the best thing to do is to get them on the back foot by getting them on the defensive to try to prove why it cant be.

Failing that B1TCH SLAP UM then tell um "Shut ya face u dumb ass uncle f***in scummy cottage cheesey wiekle warted arrogant f*** witted dork(i'll finish it there cos the MOD mite not like it-Sorry Mod C**p day at work & all that,u know how it is!:( ).

Yes, i agree.

And anyway if you look under what constitutes a sport in the oxford dictionary, paintball covers all the criteria. Or if you want to go really simple, just show them a UKPSF sticker and say its the united kingdom paintball SPORTS fed. How can a company exists under a false sport title. Im going to crawl under a rock now.

Twist :D

I know where you're coming from.
It's difficult to explaion to people so I usually dont bother. If I know the person I'll lend them the push video. That usually straightens them out.

PS:
I brought my mum (bless her) to campaign and she loved it.She understands what it is and how serious it is and how it IS a sport and a very skilful one at that.
She LOVED SC Ironmen.

It's a tough one, many people still have the image of a stag party staggering through the woods ( an image I know I promote by the way I choose to play, but hey there should be room for us all :p )
For most people the idea of "shooting other people" doesn't seem very sporting. When something moves from being a past-time to being a sport is a matter of public consensus. People have to want to see it that way. More well informed coverage in the media would go along way.
Rememeber that paintball has only been around a few years. It took football hundreds of years to go from being a village game to being to bloated nightmare of a sport it is now.;)

Same here skullicious, I invited a bunch of friends to come over to Dutch Masters and quite a few of them were amazed at the teams' "seriousness", or better yet dedication to their sport.

"Wow I had absolutely no idea paintball was played like this!" a friend said who is very aversive of any aggression and the sometimes unavoidable testosterone antics. It's comments like this that makes my day because she got to watch something she didn't really understand and it opened her eyes somewhat. A few weeks later I saw her again and we talked pball, and this time she didn't once frown at the "aggressive and dangerous" shooty things we do.

A picture still says more than a thousand words.
