Am I reading this correctly?

Resistance is Futile?

Just one of the curious anomalies of the seasonal straddle as practiced by the MS. (Which did less to add to the international lustre of the MS and more to legitimize the Euro-presence of the PPorg)

Of greater interest is whether the PPorg collective will assimilate it's "friends" in the MS.

If you look at the NPPL rankings, you'll see a couple of European teams listed who haven't played a stateside event either. Hardcore, at #20, is the highest ranked of these.

At least the NPPL and Mill are consistent in applying points from the other series.

I'm disappointed, ITN. Is that the best a FOPP (Friend of the PPorg) can do? [under normal circumstances a smiley might appear here but given ITN's anti-smiley sensibilities the option has been foregone.]

My Dear Comrade,

Just read your article in PGI and wanted to say 'well done.'
Its a splendid piece of writing that doubles as an exciting new game. I for one will be grading all the 'Corporates' in San Diego and even trying out some head-to-head corporate death-matches using your suggested framework to see who's 'faking it' and who isn't.
Now I understand most of it, but its where we get to Music that it gets tricky. There are so many varied tastes. How do I discern what is cool and what isn't? Surely to put my self in a position of being a judge of other peoples music I am selling out to the predetermined idea of 'cool'?
To do this is restricting a new breed of cool, in which 'lame' music may become 'hip', even scoring points for 'hipness'....
Also, for someone (anyone) to position themselves as a judge of other booths music selection seems 'elitist'. A word I know you utterly despise.
Therefore, have I misunderstood that part of your article? Please explain....

once again, congrats on good writing, seriously, its refreshing to see a bit of insight, even if I don't necessarily agree with it all. You should all read it (says to others).

Now you have me worried, ITN. But thanks.

This is an easy question. The corporate effort to "reach the kids" is, by definition, a cynical, disingenous manipulation so no points can be given even if you happen to like the music they choose. Optionally, the only authentic music is so underground, so new that it has no mainstream audience so any musical choices that reflects "popular" taste can't possibly receive any bonus points.

And that goes double for Johnny Favourite, his pal, the albino MC and the rest of the freak show that "performs" with him. That is just my opinion, you understand.

If you still have concerns about making subjective judgments just pretend like you're a referee.

There's an Albino MC? Wow, I have to start walking around with my eye's open!
I take your point on the Music. Presumably a live band would be ok, so long as they play only thier own music, and no-one has ever heard it before? Just watch those 'corporates' rush out to fuind any unknown, crap sounding bands, just to get a few points on the contest.
I can see it now..........
