I have had my PayPal account hacked today. I'm not sure how they did it yet - but when I do find out I'll let you all know.

In the meantime - every PayPal users NEEDS to check their history and change their passwords now.

Remember - only do this at www.paypal.com - and don't use any other link (just in case).

cheers

A trick a lot of people do is make a exact (or close enough) copy of the login page and fake e-mails. Did you get a e-mail asking you for your details?

I was inclined to agree with you Bon - but a full malware/virus sweep of all my PC's (at home and at work) revealed nothing to suggest that.

I can only assume (rightly or wrongly) that PayPal was compromised somehow. A quick google search shows that this has happened to others before.

JFYI - I always use firefox and check the certificate before I type any personal details in (FF has a 'green' bit before the URL).

Either way - it's always good policy to change you passwords on a regular basis.

Hopefully this will help prevent any future problems for other users on here.

EDIT : PayPal have just refunded all my money. This is after 24 hours (it normally takes them 7 days just to get a response from the other side). Seems there is more to this than a simple phishing scam. At least I'm refunded. :D
