Hi Guys,
I read over some of the older posts about Air Systems I dont really understand the difference other than there is different housings (carbon fibre, ali, steel) and something like Psi either 3000 or 4500 seem to be the main ones...

Can I get some advice with which sort I should be looking to get? Ebay seem to have some on there for like 46.00, are these a load of toilet or doesn't it really matter?

When I come to get one it will be a fairly cheap one just to get me started I just don't know if there's much difference...

Also is there like different ones for different markers (ie certain ones that fite, Ion's, SLG's etc)

Cheers in advice for the help
(very Confused)
JJ

The 40.00 eBay ones!

Just so theres something to referece this here is the product description of one of the £40.00 ones...

"3000 psi 48 cu Air Bottle PI Stamped reg and bottle for full EU legality."

Is that the kind of thing I want?

Cheers,

the ones on ebay are fairly good, they are steel/aliminium and fill to 3000psi (ovious from the item description lol)
the differences are-
steel/aluminium ones are heavier
there are different sizes like 48cu,68cu,1.1ltr etc
4500psi ones hold more air and therefore give you more shots per fill

my personal recomendation would be to buy a carbon wrapped 4500psi bottle, choose the size yourself, if you like to be fast go for a 48cu, if you want more shots go for a 1.1ltr.
hope that helps :)

oh and as far as fitting, all the bottles for sale on here and most on ebay will fit any marker (except pistols and some pump guns etc)
only thing thats different is hp or lp (high pressure or low pressure), but most guns are fine with both.

Have a look at some information in the thread below:

http://www.p8ntballer-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=129864

I would say unless you had one of the markers requireing a LP system then yes to go for a steel 3,000 air system. If you decide you need the lightness etc of a fibre bottle later on then you have not wasted too much to start with and also have the steel as a spare.

You can save some money by getting a second hand system but for a start I'd say go for a steel bottle from one of the online suppliers such as Lips. BZ, Fat Bobs etc.

You might as well buy brand new because then you can get the most out of the cylinder before it needs hydro testing.

The general reccomendation is that unless you're a bit experienced with air cylinders, avoid buying from ebay. You'll have no idea what kind of condition it'll be in, if it's safe to use etc. I seem to remember one case from ebay where the threads on the reg had been stripped and the damn thing was held into the bottle with electrical tape. Could have hurt anyone who tried to fill it.

If you're new to it, buy new from a well recommended paintball store.

Steelies are around 40-60 and you can get 'em from just paintball or lips. If you want to stretch to a fibrewrap that's your choice, either new from a store(140-160) or second hand(~90) from these forums, if you trust the seller.

Thanks for the help guys, Justpaintball were really good they got me one which was discounted from £70 odd down to £40 AND it came with a free cover.

I got a compressed air 3500 psi 0.8 ali one which I hope will be ok. We'll soon see lol.

Thanks again
