Part 1:

On an average day in average conditions, would you get more shots from a 20 oz CO2 than, say a 1.1L 4500 air?

Part 2:
I have an Air America Melee on a 3000 psi tank. Is it the regulator that is limited to 3000 or the tank? Can I just buy a 4500 rated tank and swap the reg over?

Ta for any info that will stop me blowing my face off :)

Air etc

A 1.1 4500psi tank would normally give you more shots than a 20 oz co2 tank, maybe up to 30-40% more (anyone agree/disagree?)

Second question: yes, so long as the Melee is rated to 4500 you cold just swap it over to your new tank, I'm not sure but I beleive Air America make 3000psi melees as well so you would need to check your before hand other wise your fill capacity would be limited to that of your reg.

Did that make sense, re read it twice but cant be arsed to change it all! :D

also jon it would make your marker more consistant going to air.. so it will just work better all round....

more consistant gas flow = more accurate shots

more consistant gas flow = more shots per fill

You will be able to see a difference the moment you go over the crono... coz you will need to turn it down( i think)... so instantly more gas friendly....

Cheers guys.
In fact I'm on air anyway but was just wondering really. I've only got a 3000 tank at the moment which only just sees me thoruhg some of the longer games so looking to go up to 4500 and a bigger volume if anyone's got a nice cheap one around :D

I'm pretty sure the melee reg is restricted to 3000 psi.

3000psi

If they are restricted to 3000psi just try one of the PMI fixed pressure regs, LPS sell they for about £62 inc P&P (including burst disks and dials) and they do the same job and are definitely for 4500psi tanks

Regs

As it is preset it should only be used as a second form of reg so it works great on my cocker with my inline reg as back up, just screws straight into your tank and away you go!
