Air powered, 2" Flowplast pipe,sprinkler solenoid, 3 x 9v batts,
22mm copper pipe, elbows etc. maplins for switches. Tyre valve for charging, 100psi Res, hit the button and whump dumps the lot!! make it for less than 40 quid, Fires spuds, balls, tee shirts, sweets, confetti. Toilet tubes are a dead fit and great for holding paintballs.
i dont mean to be a cheeky ******* but is there any chance of a set of build instructions ? I looked at these online before but they always seemed to be pretty crap - this looks like its had more thought put into it (also im not into the hairspray powered bollox)
i understand if its secret squirrel
cheers
if it's your design I dont mind recompensating(sp) you for a small amount
Dsike, if you do build one.. do some research into safety issues..
for example, the pipe for the Air Cannon is about 240 PSI
although you never put more than 100 PSI into it, it can still rupture and this can be deadly. simply because, Water (whitch the pipes are designed to hold) doest compress much, so if the pipe ruptures with water at 100 PSI nothing much will happen..
Air, on the other hand compresses a lot, so at 100 PSI the potential energy is staggering and the explosion will be violent..
On that note.. Wrap the Piece of pipe you use as a charging tank in Denim, from an old pair of jeans..
this, in theory will stop you getting impaled with any plastic shrapnel in the event of a catastrophic failure..
i built sone air cannons many years ago.. and i purposely destroyed one from a safe distance to see what would happen.. it wasnt pretty..
(If you have the patience, and do it right though, it can be a highly rewarding experience..)
The Flowplast 2" dia pipe 2mm thick, is rated to 15bar the solenoid valve is rated to 15bar, because I use a double air chamber I can lower the charging pressure to 70psi, approx 6 bar, the charging valve was from Kwikfit and is not bolted, like a motocrosser one, just push fit from the inside,
Making anything that holds pressure is dangerous,I tested mine to 110 psi with it inside a piece of 6" underground soil pipe.
I worked on Aircraft for 27 years on hydraulic systems, air, fuel,so am aware of the dangers.
After 100 charges I scrap the chambers and make new.
Research the project and chase up the specs of the pipe.
If your not happy with the risk don't do it.
