Make sure you haven't used any incorrect lube such as vaseline on any part of the tank - its petroleum based so generally not a good idea :)

Also, if the dive tank doesnt have an inline regulator or something you have to make sure you don't go past the fill limit. I know at work we have to be careful filling the 3000psi bottles from the dive tank as it will go far beyond the tanks safe limit.

Bit of reading for you buddy.

;)

The pressurized air normally used is at 3000 PSI (pounds per square inch) and has enormous energy potential. The kinetic energy potential contained within an average SCUBA tank is 1.3 MILLION foot-pounds. This is enough energy to lift a 100-ton diesel locomotive off its tracks and into the air. Because of the potential dangers of using these high-pressure vessels, manufacturers and other parties in the dive industry have set specific guidelines and recommendations for safe usage of these tanks.

what are the potential dangers of air bottles and filling up from a dive tank?
having a debate with ma dad and he seems to think that filling an air bottle is very very very dangerous.
it is dangerous ,no more than crossing the road though ,just be aware of whats involved ,thousands of us do it correctly everyday without any problems

It is a bomb if you mess it up. Take it seriously and make sure you know what your doing and you'll be fine.
