Hello,

Ive been playing sup air for well over a year now so have filled my bottle many times throughout the year. Last training session I did not secure the air latch onto the fill nipple properly and it popped off.Now for some reason im scared to fill my bottle over me thinking it will explode every time I go to fill it I dread what I think will happen. Any one else feel the same or is it just me being a Puss**?
thanks.

You're not the only one - I started playing just before the accident with spredz, when that happened I became afraid of filling my air bottle. It has only been the last 6 months where I have gained the courage to fill my own bottle and yet i'm still scared when I do. It's not that I don't trust my own equipment or the fill station, it's just an irrational fear that I needed to get over :(

I always give the airline a pull before i start to fill to make sure it fitted to my bottle correctly as the same thing happened to me years ago and its never happened to me since. Im sure this will help you out.

its just like eerything else you do, there is a risk. However the risk is so low its not worth thinking about.

just like everytime you go outside you could be attacked, hit by a bus a airplane fall out of the sky etc etc etc

I'm always nervous when I'm in the presence of air filling, whoevers doing it. The likelihood of something going wrong is still low, but still.

Personally, I think it's a good thing, it makes you more cautious about something that needs you to be cautious about it.

If it makes you feel better i dont know of one case where a Bottle has failed. there have been issues with how they have been filled and with what. But never a Bottle. so think about what it is and how you should treat it.
Its always been user error. have a read on how to use it properly and you wont have a problem. multiply the amount of players with bottle and then how many have spares world wide. its really very safe. Unless your called Nige then the odd go up

Hi

Treat high pressure air with the respect it deserves and you will be fine.

Make sure you fill nipple is in good condition. If the shoulders of it become too worn you will get the fill regs blowing off more regularly.

When you go to fill up make sure the fill reg collar slides completely over and is secure.

You may prefer to use only the dump release fill stations. AKA the ones where you depress the lever to fill then release it to purge the pressure from the hose. With these ones if you do blow off the nipple you'll naturally release the lever and the air flow will cease. Valve fill stations would need you to close the valve manually so if you've been startled they are not so good.

Remember that all fill station should be safety checked.

Things to look out for are that the fill stations are physically secured down onto a substantial object, the filling hose often has a safety line on it so it can not whip about and lastly adequate signs as to the pressure rating of the fill station.

The worst thing that will happen if you blow off a fill reg is that the o-ring inside the reg will fly out, much to the irritation of the site owner as they can be a pest to replace.

If you at all unsure as to how to fill you bottle ask. We are all friendly folk and will help you out.

Other things to not get alarmed by are warm fills. When you fill a bottle from empty you bottle will get warm this is due to Boyle's Law. Fill the bottle slowly and the bottle will get warm to the touch but not hot.

A flash fill as it is called will actually give you a lower tank pressure in the end as when the air in the tank cools the pressure goes down.

Regards

Ed

and ALWAYS use a fill nipple cover, the amount of player i saw yesterday having problems with leaky bottles, as contaminates get in to the nipple. it cost one team a match. and then those contaminates will travel in to your gun and star messing with your reg making your marker inconsistent
