Air Bottle and Reg

Recently bought a new air bottle with reg, and due to it being safer to ship they came seperate.

Was looking for some handy tips on how to secure the reg into the bottle so that it doesnt become a safety hazard. For example it unscrewing under the pressure and flying off the back of my marker.

Also a friend mentioned something about a qualified airsmith having to secure them, to ensure that they reliable and safe for use. If this is so then I'm guessing any local dive shop should be able to do this.

Please could somebody enlighten me a little on this matter as I dont want my air bottle loosening from the reg creating a danger for others and myself.

Cheers, Dale

You could use a little threadlock ,but TBH don't bother, the air pressure will more than hold the reg on tight just make sure you tighten it on to the bottle (hand tight).

and use the proper forum next time ;)

Officially it should be torqued to a set amount, double check with the manufacturer's specs. Most people will use a strong hand to screw it on tho.

If you aren't planning to take it out of the county you might as well get it done properly.

I got a mix of bottles...some a locked others aren't! So far I have been lucky that when we travel (fly) no one has complained about my bottles in my gear bag...!!! Even though I am the lucky sod that always gets his bag checked...!

But normally I just tighten the reg up firmly and the air pressure does the rest!
