I'm pretty impressed!

Marseille was near perfect.... and to me Bitburg was even better in the areas that matter to the participants!

The only two issues I had with Marseille, was the refs not quite having figured out how to use the new "no unobvious hits" rule - and the lack of a scoreboard on the CPL field... and both were in place and sorted out in Bitburg.

- I think Bitburg had the best reffing overall in any MS event I have ever attended.

Had the staging of the finals been as good as in Marseille, I think Bitburg would have topped it... instead one is left with a feeling of an event that ran to near perfection organisationally....... very efficient and well organised... but still a little bit dull and lacking in "sparkle"..... and thus not that interesting to spectators.

Good but not great

Nick, I think the problem , if you could call it that, was the lack of grandstands all the way down the length of the field, and the lack of dynamic commentary ( as you mentioned in your other post) and the addition of lots of non-paintball people that happened to be out for a stroll on the beach in Marseille. And of course don't forget the Pom-pom girls, who could forget them;) :D

really ? I can only refer to the CPL reffing as I only saw those guys reff - in my opinion far too many 1 -4- 1's were applied. In a game of X-Ball it hurts a team beyond repair for that point. Dishing out a 1-4-1 and and taking two players from one tape effectivly opens the tape up for the other team to stroll down to side shoot everyone - you may as well just give them a point. Now then, don't get me wrong - if someone tries to wipe a hit of their hand or loader then fair enough, stick a 1-4-1 on them, but in the finals a Shockwave player ran from the T-bag to the snake - about three strides and a belly in - and got clipped on a pot during his slide in. He didn't fire his gun or look to move as a ref was stright on him, the ref saw the hit on his pot and then 1-4-1'd him ? fair ????

Nick your gay
My gay what??

;)

Agge - you're drunk again - go talk to Laurent :D

Leigh:

Nope - that one call was not fair.... but show me an event where bad calls are not made?.... overall I think the reffing is better right now than ever in the MS - and that was my point :)

"Far too many 141s" ?? - I disagree... I think the new zero tolerance policy for playing on is great, and that it will clean up the game a great deal... I've never seen so many Pro players call themselves out before ;)

Yep bad calls are made at every event, agreed. Also agree that zero tolerance is a good thing and I would totally support it - however I still think to some degree a marshal has to make a decision, or be allowed to make a decision as to if a 1-4-1 is justified for a particular hit. In my early example it was clearly not justified and there were many 1-4-1's given out for similar "offences".

Zero tolerance is great for players who choose to cheat and get caught, bust their ass it.

I'm not having a go at the ref's as they don't make the rules, they just apply them - if they were told to 1-4-1 anyone with a hit, even on the players pots, then fine, they did their job and did it by the book but in my opinion they should be able to decide if a player could have know about the hit or not.
