I am getting back into the sport after a good few years away. I am used to running two pump guns that use 12oz syphon tanks, but now I have an Ion xe and need some advice on the best air bottle to use. I have seen the carbon bottles and and a bit jubious about using them after years of having an aluminium bottle that can take a bit of a bashing in the woods and still be safe.

I dont have a large amount of spare cash so unfortunately the nice £150 plus bottles are out of the question.

get you ion tuned fine and a 300psi 48cu steely air bottle will do you a fair number of shots.

you won't get anywhere near the shot count of a 68cu 4500psi fill though.

remember the bottles are thin aluminium vessels with a fibre wrapping - they are very strong and as long as you have a bottle cover on them, they are solid. just don;t smash them off rocks.....

Many sites won't fill beyond 3000psi now so a 4500psi tank won't be an advantage. Keep an eye out for a 2nd hand fiber wrapped 48ci or 68ci bottle. Something with a few years test goes for £70-90 on average, and they are a much lighter than a steel bottle. But you will need a decent cover to protect them from damage.
