Hello I am a newish player and have decided to try and get into the sport after going a few times at my local site however there are a few problems I have the first thing is I'm not sure on any more sites around my area, Dorset, and due to the expense I'm finding it hard to find friends that want to go regularly. Also I have been searching the forum for a good marker to purchase but I'm not entirely sure on what to look for. If anyone would be able to help I would be very grateful.

Thanks

G-Day mate, first of all if your thinking of getting into this sport start thinking of travelling because that`s all your going to do, I have to get up at 03:30 to get to an Event and spend hours on the road to get there and Back ( all worth it ) you don`t have to hold hands with another player just because he lives down the road. The Care Bears come together from all over the South and I mean all over Brighton to Southampton to Bristol to Harrow Middx to Reading and Wiltshire. Phew ! ! anyway there is a good site near you at Trago Mills ask for Syd ( NSPL Owner ) give him a call on :- 01626 830 732 or 01626 833 200 of course you need to be a driver to get around and to get to a site on time. Our site is in Oxford so it`s too far for you. as for a gun or Marker you might say there are loads out there and are all on this forum for you to see one way or another, I recommend an AXE but hey that`s me.if you want reliability and bomb proof get an EGO ( just wipe and put it away after use ) if you want cheap then look at what GOG have to offer. of course there`s always the second hand market shown here and most of the time you can have a bloody good deal as long as you look at whose selling it , how long he`s been playing / knows how to look after gun / and can be vouched for by someone that you know or that knows him. Do not go for guns abroad as when they come over here you get stomped on by customs and excise before you get them , a lot of guys have found this out the hard way, Don`t you be another. . . What ever you choose WELCOME to the forum and to your NEW WORLD , Now it all depends on WHAT family you choose to be with. . . Choose wisely my friend. . . . Bluey

if you are starting out i'd suggest having a look on the classifieds like bluey said, especially to get a hold of things like packs, masks etc at a very cheap price. i get the impression that if you have been playing at a local site and renting gear then you have probably experienced typical punter prices (£7 per 100 balls etc). this is priced to pay for your gear, marshals, site maintenance etc whereas if you are playing 'walk ons' with all your own gear (you could get a full set of gear for £200 or so) then the cost is dropped to just entry (about £20 is typical) and then just the standard cost of paint (around £30 per box of 2000). remember this when setting your budget, but also remember that the difference in cost between playing recreational woodsball and competitive tournaments can be very significant.

Skirmish, my local, isnt that bad however the nearby Delta Force site is more developed: bigger playing field, 2 tier fortress and proper huts and what not
