Acidic Paintballs?

After taking delivery of some new P/b markers yesterday I let rip with some shots at the door of our pig sty.

Woke up this morning and each of the 'splats' has bubbled the paint and upon closer inspection the paint on the door peels off quite easily. Got to be honest, this rather suprised me. Especially bearing in mind that the door of the pig sty has been exposed to the elements, and we do get some rough weather here, for years with no apparent ill effects.

I thought they were totally harmless.

FYI the Paintballs were Severe Hurricanes.

Your thoughts appreciated.

Cheers
Alex

Paintballs are alkaline, not acidic, and thats every make of paint that I know of. Thats why paint can burn grass and scares groundsman if you wanna put on an event on their lovely rugby pitches.

With the weather at the moment the problem would be as bad as it gets, normally a little rain will dilute it enough so that it doesn't hurt anything.

I'm sure they are Ok , but I kid you not. If you saw my pig sty door you would swear that someone had put blobs of paint stripper or paint remover on there.

As someone mentioned, maybe it's something to do with the heat.

I'll get hold of a camera, worth seeing .

Paintballs have always had a mild corrosive effect, i think there is a small amount of anti-freeze, or a similar chemical added to keep them fluid at low temps.

Look on the bright side when stripping old woodwork to repaint, you can have a bit of fun, no more nitro-mors, paintball it instead.
