Anyone got any tips on how to seperate a stock two piece barrel that wont budge for love nor money:mad::mad::mad:

I dont wanna damage the anno or dent it etc but I really need to get the tip off to try my new U/L bacl:(

So far i've wrapped both pieces up in towel and use G-clamps to get a better grip but to no avail...( aside from a few 'choice' words from me and a couple of flying cups etc:mad::rolleyes:)

I have no vice so was wondering if I try and use some form of lube is it even likely to even penetrate the barrell threads:confused:

Someone out there must have some genius method to put me outta my misery cos at this rate its goin in the bin and I'll be searchin the classifieds for a new tip:D:cool: (but would prefer to spend the cash on paint)

Ta!

Wrap athletic or skateboard grip tape round the tubes, try again.

If you manage to get them apart, peel off tape and use alcohol to clean off the residue.

Oh and copious amounts of WD40 sprayed into the threads, leave it a little time to work it's way in.

EDIT: You sure it's not reverse threaded?

Try dipping the back half in a bowl of boiling water. Don't leave it too long or the front will heat up as well, but if your lucky it'll expand the thread enough to get the back half undone. Did you tighten it yourself in the first place?

Good point about the reverse thread - may be worth checking with Dye?

I didnt tighten it at all...its as it came and my guess is it probably hasnt been split at all.

Steal your girlies/mums hair dryer and heat the threads up for a few minutes.

Always worked for me, and saves leaving cr@p all over your barrel.

JOBS A GOOD UN:):):):)

You sir, are a legend;)

The 'wifes;)' hairdryer just saved me from putting a barrell shape through the kitchen window:cool::rolleyes::D

At last...I can breath again.

Cheers fella
Your welcome bud, glad it worked :)

Had exactly the same problem, with the stock proto/dye barrels. Although fault is probably my own, when I throw them together half asleep in the morning. Then find at the end of day I can't get the b**tard apart again to go back in my kitbag.

Cheers
