I'm thinking about upgrading to a speed (probably) or A4 but would be intersted to hear opinions on the performance and reliability of both.

Thanks

Basically the same engine inside, the A4 is shorter and lighter, has externally adjustable trigger, the A4 comes with as standard with the 3Sum expansion chambers (retail £38), soft nose bolt (retail £19) and locking gated feed (£30) all of which you would buy if you owned a speed as they are very nice upgrades. The A4 has that nice little input pressure guage on the flash tank as well, also the board is obviously different to the speed offering you greater 'tunability' of all of the markers key funtions as well as giving you the standard shot counter & game timer features always featured on LCD screened Angels.

Have an A4 myself and have to say they rock one you set em up right. Found removing the front vernier wheel (or whatever they are called) makes the trigger really nice! Didn't chop a ball at the weekend (until i had a smeg in my hopper grrr).

Both Angel types are excellent performers - the same as any high-level electro, even e-blades apparently :p - with no major difference between the two in my opinion, and both are also very reliable and very easy to maintain, with the Angel 4 perhaps having a little edge here due to the externally adjustable trigger and LCD display.

Backing up the reliability and maintainability you have WDP's awesome tech support - either directly from them or through the many techs.

For price/performance I'd have to recommend the Speed. It's perhaps a little more work to set-up - although how often do you really need to play around with trigger adjustments & other settings? - and some do find the need to reset the SENSI every time you switch the Speed back on to be a little annoying, but it isn't really that much of a problem once you get used to it.

As Kitch mentioned, the soft-nosed bolt and locking gated feed are nice add-ons for the Speed, although you might not need the latter if your hopper fits well. The 3sum set of volumizers is a matter of preference: they can be used to lower the operating pressure, which can help with fragile paint, but gas efficiency does tend to suffer, which can limit your shots per fill.

I wish I had to worry about these kind of dilemmas, :)

I've had a little try with both of them and they both seemed to shoot nicely. The performance advantages on the A4 depend on how much time you want to put in to setting it up. The speed is a bit more ready to go. I'd suggest trying them out.

Of course there is the price difference. Oh yeah, and did anyone else notice that the speed went up £95 and the A4 £150 at planet?

Both markers are fantastic, most people who have the speed long for an A4, but settle for the speed. Your choice mate, if you're the type of person who likes all singing all dancing gizmos, then it's the A4. But if you're the type who prefers value for money, then the speed is for you. Performance wise there's not much between them, so it's more about bling.

Enjoy the angel experience, remember, great backup, and a forward thinking company, who in 3-4 years have developed the angel into a special marker indeed.

It's taken 15 years to get the cocker where it is, and it still has the guts outside (wake up guys).

a work in progress...

Thanks guys & angel :),

I currently have an Angel Led but have been thinking about upgrading (only recently though). I'm pretty sure I want to stay with WDP but just need a bit of advice and guidance as to which upgrade. There's only so much you can get off of company reviews anyway ;)
